If it were meant to be the only force moving you forward, it would not be called an escalator.

Is one really so lazy that they have to stand idle while on an escalator or moving walkway? Especially in an airport or train station where time is of the essence. Some people are late for their departure and are in a hurry! Get out of the way and let’s keep it moving!

Etiquette Statement:

If there is no space to move by someone on a moving walkway or escalator, they have a responsibility to walk forward.
